Petroleum prices in Abuja, Nigeria, have surged to N617 per litre at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) outlets. This increase follows the removal of fuel subsidies announced by President Bola Tinubu in May. Initially, NNPCL had raised prices to a range of N480 to N570 per litre, a nearly 200% hike from the previous price below N200. This price rise has led to higher transportation costs and increased prices for goods and services. As of now, NNPCL outlets in Abuja’s Central and Wuse areas are selling fuel at N617 per litre, causing frustration among motorists and commuters.
